I am happy to announce the Russell O. Brackman Middle School Teacher and Support Staff persons of the year. Lesley Odgers, 7th Grade Math Teacher, and Jean Wrisley, Educational Aide, were recognized for their excellence and endless dedication to the students at the Brackman School. Congratulations, and thank you for all you do!
Additionally, I would like to announce the results of the recent survey regarding 8th grade promotion; it was very important to us all to get our parent and student perspectives on the promotion ceremony. The overwhelming majority felt that the ceremony would be best celebrated at BHS; the date for this year’s promotion ceremony will be, Tuesday, June 21st, at 6PM. I thought I would share a sample of the popular perspectives shared in the survey:
“My son was part of the 8th grade class that had their graduation at BHS and it was awesome! It was so wonderful to sit and enjoy that event with his grandparents and siblings!”
“I have a family of 6 so if it were at ROBMS, proud grandparents and siblings would not be able to attend, at BHS my whole family can watch it live together!”
“What better way to celebrate being promoted to high school than having it at the high school.”
“I believe the experience will be more memorable at the high school for the graduates.”
“It gives the student a feel of really moving up to HS level.”
“It is a nice way to welcome students to the high school.”
Thank you so much for all of your feedback and support! We are looking forward to celebrating the Class of 2016’s promotion, recognizing the accomplishments in middle school while celebrating their transition into high school.
March marked the beginning of our 8th graders transition to high school; BHS counselors visited ROBMS to speak to the 8th grade students about course selection, sports, and activities. Thank you also to all the parents in coming out March 9th to BHS for the parent information night; the attendance for this event was outstanding!
I want to publicly thank our new culture/climate club, Bulldog City, for improving the climate of our school by cleaning up the campus; they had such a great time working together as a group outside. Following through with their idea I know fostered a great deal of pride and they’re looking forward to doing it again. They are now planning activities for our next pep rally April 15th and where we will introduce our new bull dog by name.
