Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome back to the 2015-2016 school year!  It is an exciting time of year and we are getting ready for the first day of school.  A special welcome back to all of our returning seventh and eighth graders and welcome to our new students and sixth graders.  We are looking forward to greeting our students Tuesday, September 8th (Early Dismissal at 11:40AM).  Our staff is preparing to continue providing our students the best education.  Also, our Parent Teacher Association is working on ideas to create opportunities for more student enrichment, please come out Wednesday, September 16th at 7PM for the first meeting; you can also sign-up and get more information at our Back-To-School-Night Thursday, September 24th at 6:30PM.

As I am approaching my 4th year as the principal of ROBMS, I realize how lucky I am to serve in this position.  We have a dedicated teaching staff and support staff that provide a quality learning experience for our students and a safe, clean, and caring learning environment.  We added several great educators to our staff roster; on behalf of the whole Brackman family it is our pleasure to welcome: Nicole Torre (6th grade Science), Rebecca Kane (8th grade ELA), Kathy Cruz (Spanish), Robert Cordasco (Special Education), Jenna Franchio (6th grade ELA), Lauren Gabriel (7th grade ELA), Corinna O’Neil (6th gr Math/8th gr ELA), Tracy White (6th /8th gr Math), Maurice Owens (Assistant Principal), Shannon Kovack (Child Study Team), and returning, Betsy Mitchell (Paraprofessional), we are very excited to have you all join our team!

Again this year we have some enhancements to our schedule and programs to provide our students with even greater learning experiences; however, we know that it is what our Brackman staff does on a daily basis that establishes the success of our students.  Together we must remain dedicated to helping our students grow academically and socially: evaluating what we have, determining what we can do to improve, and identifying what we need to make those improvements.

We have been working hard together to enhance our programs and resources at Brackman; some of the benefits of these enhancements are:

  • Math Achievement Strategies for ALL students will include an integrated S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) curriculum;
  • Music students will meet as a full band and full chorus per grade level every day for the school year (Music students taking a semester of Spanish will only be with the full band/chorus for one semester); additionally, ALL music students will have pull-out lessons one day a week for both band and chorus;
  • Selected 7th & 8th grade students will have a semester of Spanish based on their performance in Spanish during the 2014-15 school year; ALL other students continue to have Spanish for one marking period;
  • Students’ lunches have been extended from 22 minutes to 26 minutes;
  • We have expanded our technology resources to include in excess of 160 Chrome devices including a new computer lab.

Parents/Guardians, as it was last year, will be able to view their child’s schedule via the portal on September 2nd.

In closing, I hope your final days of summer vacation are filled with lasting memories and we wish each of you the best of success and look forward to a great year.    Below are some upcoming dates to keep in mind.
