Mrs. Chadwick's class and Mrs. Bartolini's class celebrates Veteran's Day!

Dear Horbelt Parents:

With the holiday preparations in full swing, the students at the Horbelt School are keeping very busy.  We have our traditional giving trees with different focuses in the entry way.  Students are encouraged to bring in something for special families.  Of course, you are also welcome to come in to the school and see the trees for yourself; all trees are designed to encourage our students to help others have a happy Holiday.

The food drive, sponsored by the Leaders in Training for Thanksgiving, was a great success. Thanks to everyone who contributed.  All canned food that was collected was donated to the Barnegat Food Pantry.   In addition to the food drive, in preparation for Thanksgiving, we were able to distribute turkey and food baskets because of the generosity of local families.

As you know, we are in the midst of our TWO Million Minute Challenge.  I have challenged the students of our school to collectively double their reading time from last year.  Last year in October, students at Horbelt read more than 96,000 minutes!!   This year, the students have already read more than 440,000 minutes.  Absolutely amazing!!  I am excited to share what the students do for November (numbers are coming in as I write this!)  Please encourage your child to read, and track it, as this is a good habit - and part of our school-wide literacy initiative.

Listed below are the important December events taking place at the Horbelt School:
