Dear Dunfee School Family,
On behalf of the staff at the Dunfee School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2015-16 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments assigned by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
We are confident that by working together as a team, our students will experience much success!
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th. Please note we will be operating on the early dismissal schedule on September 8th. The full day schedule will begin on September 9th. School hours remain the same and are as follows:
Full Day: 8:20 AM to 3:00 PM
Early Dismissal: 8:20 AM to 12:20 PM
In addition, Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 1:30 PM and Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 17th, at 6:30 PM. More information on the schedule of events for this evening will be forthcoming.
Due to the retirement of several staff members, we welcome new teachers to the Dunfee School family. Miss Marissia Grippe, kindergarten teacher; Miss Brittany Spence, second grade teacher; Miss Katie Quintero, third grade teacher; Miss Jillian Quinn, special education teacher; Mrs. Kim Cote, fourth grade teacher and Mr. Evan Weatherby, music replacement teacher have joined our outstanding team of educators. We wish them the very best in their positions!
This year, our school theme is “Travel the Road to Success: Dunfee Dragons R.O.A.R.” We will continue to work together to ensure success for all students as we remain focused on excellence in all we do. Students will create their road map to success as they learn about the importance of the R.O.A.R. attributes along their educational journey. The annual kick- off parade for our ROAR program will take place on September 18th at 9:15 AM.
I look forward to working with you as we travel the road to success together during the 2015/16 school year. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
