Dear Dunfee School Community,
In a few short weeks, we will be spending time with family and friends to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. As I reflect at this special time, I realize we have much to be thankful for at LMDS. Upon entering the building, visitors immediately sense the warmth and spirit of cooperation. Parents, the community, the Board of Education, administration, and staff members are partners in education and work diligently to ensure the success of all children. This was particularly evident with the participation of our community in the second annual R.O.A.R. parade held in September. In the classroom, teachers continue to provide an academically challenging curriculum where risk taking is applauded and encouraged. We are fortunate to have an active PTA who graciously volunteers their time for the benefit of the students in our school. I know that I am thankful to be part of a school family that values education and strives to do what is best for students on a daily basis.
As always, we have many activities taking place this month. Please note the first marking period ends on November 12th and report cards will be sent home on November 21st. In addition, after-school activities begin on November 11th for participating students in grades 1-5. Club dismissal time is 3:35 PM. Students will be bringing home letters on Monday, 11/3, indicating the club they will be attending. In addition, Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held from November 17th through the 20th and we will be operating on the early dismissal schedule on these days.
On behalf of the staff at LMDS, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! In the days ahead, we will continue to Unlock the Possibilities and encourage our students to set goals and realize their potentials.
