Are you facing eviction or foreclosure? The state of New Jersey has a process that may help prevent your students and their families from being evicted or removed from their homes. Pursuant to enacted legislation, if families submit a self-certification form, and if they are eligible, they may be protected from being evicted or removed from where they are living at any time for past due rent accrued between March 1, 2020 and either August 31, 2021 or December 31, 2021 depending on income level.
However, these protections are not automatic. In order to take advantage of these protections, families MUST file an Eviction Prevention Income Self-Certification Form, which can be found here: https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/renter. Filling out this certification has the ability to assist households with getting their eviction cases dismissed.
Below you will find a flyer. Also, see the following link ( www.housinghelpnj.org ) that features local, state and federal resources for renters, homeowners & landlords.
