I graduated from Hamilton High West in NJ in 1988.  After high school I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed my basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.  From there I was shipped off to Camp Pendleton California where I completed 3 months of Advanced Infantry Training.  My first duty station was Marine Barracks Hawai'i.  It was there that I served the duration of my enlistment and upon being Honorably Discharged chose to call home.  While in Hawai'i I worked for the City & County of Honolulu Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services Division from 1996-2002 and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Minor in Zoology from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.  Upon moving back to NJ in the spring of 2002 I was hired as the Lifeguard Chief/Beach Supervisor for the Borough of Ship Bottom.  After 14 years in Hawai'i and a summer on Long Beach Island, NJ I found myself in the classroom for the first time during the 2002-2003 school year at Coastal Learning Center (CLC) in Tuckerton, NJ.  It was during this time I went back to school to earn my Special Education certification.  I was employed for 3 years at CLC and then transferred to Southern Regional Middle School where I worked for 2 more years before being hired by the Barnegat Township School District in September 2007.  I hold certifications in the state of NJ as Teacher of Psychology, Teacher of the Handicapped (highly qualified in both mathematics and science), and Teacher of Elementary Education K-8.  When I am not teaching I enjoy swimming, paddling, surfing, cross training, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo, and spending time with my family.
