• Six Flags Great Adventure:

At the end of the school year, our safeties get to attend a trip to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ.  Students DO PAY for their tickets unless they have a season pass.  We get a discount on admission tickets so it is affordable to students.  If students have a season pass, they only have to pay a processing fee, which goes towards the bus parking ticket (usually $2).  ALL safety patrol members contribute to the costs of the trip.

    Chaperones:
We do ask for chaperones to attend the trip.  A chaperone permission form is sent out prior to the payment form.  Chaperones have the choice of following the bus in their own vehicles, or ride the school bus.

    What to bring:
    • Students need to bring comfortable clothing and shoes (no flip flops).  We will be walking around the park all day long, and flip flops cannot be worn on certain rides.
    •  We do not eat inside the park, so students MUST bring a bagged lunch (no glass bottles) and have their names written on the bag.  Do not send your child with a park dining pass expecting them to eat at one of the snack places or restaurants.  If students arrive the morning of the trip without a lunch, they will be sent to the cafeteria to buy a fun lunch or breakfast to bring on the trip.
    • We will periodically stop at locations to get drinks.  Many students on the trip buy the refillable drink bottles.  A one day refillable bottle costs around $20 and students get free refills all day long.  If your child has one already purchased for the current season, they can bring that into the park.  The drink bottle CANNOT have liquids in it before entering the park. The security will ask for the contents in the bottle to be emptied. It is important to stay hydrated, so please keep in mind to send your child with some money to purchase drinks.  Otherwise, they will only be able to drink from the water fountains.
    • We are not stopping at gift shops, so please don't send in extra money expecting your child is able to purchase items.
    • If your child brings a carrying bag or purse, THEY are responsible for it during the entire trip.  The school is not responsible for any items that are lost or stolen on the trip, so please remember to not send anything that is valuable (like electronic devices).
    • Wear sunscreen and bring any medication.  If your child is not permitted to self medicate, the parent/guardian MUST attend the trip.  We will be checking with the school nurse for any student who requires medication.
    • Parents who claimed their child has a season pass and did not purchase a ticket must make sure the pass is with the student on the day of the trip.  If a student does not have their season pass the morning of the trip, they will not be able to attend. We do not have extra admission tickets for students.  We only have enough tickets for students who purchased them prior to the trip.
    T-Shirts:
Students are provided safety patrol t-shirts for the trip.  We hand out the shirts at least one day prior the trip.  If a student is absent, he/she will receive their shirt the morning of the trip.  Students are reminded that they represent the school, so they ARE NOT PERMITTED to cut or write on the shirts on the day of the trip.  If a student arrives to school with their shirts cut or written on, they WILL NOT attend the trip.

Students can wear bathing suits and/or tank tops under the safety patrol t-shirts.

This trip is an all day event.  Buses arrive at the school around 8:45 am and we do not leave the park until 5 pm.  We arrive at the Horbelt School between 6-6:30 pm.  Parents/Guardians MUST pick up their child by 6:30 pm.

    Certificate:
All safeties receive a certificate at the end of the school year.  They MUST hand in their safety belts AND pins in order to receive a certificate, and a miniature safety pin.
