Scale Assessment Information

  • Major Assessments:

    Students enrolled in concert band, symphonic band, and/or jazz will perform scales for their major assessment grades according to the following:

    • Concert band wind players & keyboardists - One octave major scale
    • Concert band percussionists - One octave major scale and rudiment
    • Symphonic band wind players & keyboardists - One octave major scale plus one octave natural minor sale
    • Symphonic band percussionists - One octave major scale and rudiment
    • Jazz band wind players, keyboardists, and guitarists - One octave blues scale
    • Jazz band percussionists - One octave blues scale and drum set style

    All major assessments must be uploaded to Google Classroom by midnight of the due date, using the code found the ensemble's webpage.

    Minor Assessments:

    Before submitting a major assessment to Google Classroom, a student must complete a fingering chart for the corresponding scale. All minor assessments are due one week prior to the due date of the major assessment. 

    Minor assessment must be sumbitted via Google Classroom.

    All necessary forms are located below.  All fingering charts below are editable.  Please save them to your computer.  Once saved to your computer, complete the form and rename it.  Once it is renamed, sumbit it to Classroom.

     

    Late Assessments:


    Work handed in late (1 day to 7 days) can only earn a maximum of grade of 85.
    Work handed in late (8 days to 14 days) can only earn a maximum of grade of 75.
    Work handed in late (15 days to 21 days) can only earn a maximum of grade of 65.
    Work handed in late (22 days or later) can only earn a maximum of grade of 50.
