I am please to welcome familiar faces while also getting ready to meet some new ones. As we enter this school year, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself, how we are going to approach music class, chorus rehearsals and what you can expect from me throughout the year.
First, a little about myself: I graduated from Rowan University with a degree in music and education. I am entering my eighth year of teaching, five of which was in Barnegat. Out of those five, I have been at Horbelt the entire time and I am excited to embrace our new sixth grade.
Next, think back to your music class experience as a student. Since then, music class has changed in its expectations. While music is, singing, playing instruments and having a lot of fun there are skills and foundations that need to be covered. Keeping that in mind, we will be bridging the gap between learning necessary skills, having fun and keeping safe as we enter this year.
This year Chorus will be happening. It is still in the works as to how we will proceed. Please look at the Chorus webpage for updates.
Last, this year while it might be different then any of us could have expected my number one job is to keep your child safe. From there we will, build a communicative relationship in which we work together to help your child succeed.
