Visual & Performing Arts

The Barnegat Township School District's Visual and Performing Arts Program provides students with a comprehensive, standards-based education that fosters creativity, artistic expression, collaboration, and critical thinking from preschool through grade 12.  Through engaging instruction in visual arts, music, theater, and performance-based experiences, students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become confident creators, performers, and lifelong appreciators of the arts.

The district is committed to providing equitable access to high-quality arts education through a sequential curriculum that encourages innovation, cultural awareness, and personal growth.  Students have opportunities to participate in general music, chorus, band, visual arts, theater productions, and a variety of extracurricular ensembles and performances that enrich their educational experience and strengthen connections with the community.

The Barnegat Township School District has been recognized as one of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation's Best Communities for Music Education for seven consecutive years (2020–2026).  This prestigious national honor celebrates the district's unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, comprehensive music education opportunities for all students.  The award reflects the dedication of Barnegat's exceptional Music Educators, the support of district leadership, families, and the community, and the district's belief that music is an essential part of a well-rounded education.  Earning this distinction year after year highlights Barnegat Township School District's continued excellence in fostering student creativity, artistic achievement, and lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.
