IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BARNEGAT BOARD OF EDUCATION
Superintendent Appointment and Leadership Transition
The Barnegat Township Board of Education is pleased to announce that, following a comprehensive superintendent search process, the Board has selected Mr. Josh Toddings, currently the Principal of the Russell O. Brackman Middle School, a 24-year veteran of the Barnegat school district.
Mr. Toddings will be formally appointed by the Board of Education at its August 25, 2026 Board meeting, with an anticipated start date as Superintendent on September 14, 2026.
The Board recognizes that this appointment comes at an important time for our district. With the opening of the 2026-2027 school year approaching, we are equally committed to ensuring a successful start for the students, families, and staff of Brackman School and providing a smooth transition to district leadership.
Because Mr. Toddings currently serves as Principal of Brackman School, the Board has made it a priority to develop a transition plan that does not disrupt the opening of school or the important work already underway at Brackman.
Mr. Toddings will work closely with district leadership and the Board during the transition period to ensure that the responsibilities associated with the opening of Brackman School are appropriately addressed and that staff, students, and families experience continuity of leadership and support.
The Board believes that Mr. Toddings' 24 years of experience in the district provides him with valuable insight into the day-to-day needs of our students, staff, families, and administrators. His knowledge of the Barnegat school community will be an important asset as he assumes the Superintendent's role.
We understand that leadership transitions require careful planning. Our objective is to make this
transition organized, collaborative, and minimally disruptive, while maintaining the momentum of the new school year.
The Board thanks the community, our staff, families, and students for their continued support and patience as we move through this transition.
We are excited about the future of the Barnegat Township School District and look forward to working with Mr. Toddings as he assumes the role of Superintendent.
Thank you,
Barnegat Board of Education
