• Safety Patrol Application Process

The Safety Patrol Application was distributed through the Media Literacy Google Classroom.  Students completed a Google Form from their elementary school, answering questions and checking off they agree to be on the 6th grade safety patrol.

The following was the process used to determine how a student was selected for being on the Safety Patrol Team:
    1. The Safety Patrol application had to be  submitted by the given deadline (May 7th).
    2. Each application was reviewed, and the answers to the two questions were scored using a simple rubric. Students received a score of 1-3 for each answer. Students were reminded to answer the questions using a paragraph format.
    3. Attendance in 5th grade was reviewed.  If students were excessively absent, tardy or picked up early, we noted it on the student's rubric.
    4. We asked the special area teachers for their recommendations.  The safety patrol candidates were scored based on their behavior and performance in the classrooms during special.  We asked the 5th grade teachers for their recommendations as well.
    5. The last step is to review the application scores with Dr. Saxton.
    6. Students who are selected to be on the 6th grade safety patrol will receive an invite to the Safety Patrol Google Classroom by the last week of August.
