ACADEMIC BOWL
The Academic Bowl Team welcomes students each year who love a challenge! We participate in a county-wide tournament which includes questions that range from knowledge in history, science, literature, current events, and sports, broaden your horizons and step up!

ART CLUB
We believe that every student is an artist and we provide a safe, encouraging atmosphere for student to partake in art related activities. The art club is a studio oriented before school club. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of hands-on, long term projects using both 2-D and 3-D processes. Students will broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the world around them as well as traditional art forms.

BRACKTONES
The BrackTones is a select show choir that performs contemporary music along with choreography. Students will perform for a variety of festivals, competitions, and public concerts during the school year. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade may audition for the BrackTones in September 2019. Students MUST pass an audition in order to participate in BrackTones.

BULLDOG BUZZ
Bulldog Buzz is a club where students share the news of the awesome things going on here at Brackman Middle School! Students brainstorm ideas for episodes ranging from events happening in the school to interesting features on teachers and students. Student reporters create questions and then schedule and conduct interviews. Once interviews are completed, our video editors take over! These video editors work behind the scenes on computers putting together our videos before uploading them onto our YouTube channel for all to see.

BULLDOG CITY
“There’s No Pity in Bulldog City.” If you are really into school spirit, it’s our job to plan all the Pep Rallies. We work to make the Brackman community all that it can be by coming up with ideas, solutions and activities to make life in the middle school enjoyable.

COMPUTER CLUB
The ROBMS Computer Club enables students of all grade levels to explore the computer in an open setting. Students will have a variety of software to engage in diverse activities such as desktop publishing, create animation, hand draw, make movies, web-page design, gaming and the exploration of coding software. Additionally, it is an open lab for students to conduct research, and complete homework/projects. Students are given freedom to choose their projects and work together in groups or individually. Projects must be approved by Miss Gianni first, but it is a positive environment where they can express their creativity freely. Please be aware that we will be using the Internet.

CYBER PATRIOTS
CyberPatriot is a cyber defense competition program open to all students which encourages students to engage in cyber security related fields. Students are able to practice in simulated images to prepare for the competition which begins in November.

Students will learn the basics of Double Dutch jump rope.

DRAMA CLUB
Bulldog Theatre is for any 7th or 8th grader who would like to be a part of our many events; the highlight being the spring musical production! Listen for an announcement in the Fall. We are looking for a diverse group of thespians with all abilities, who are interested in performance and/or the technical aspects of building a production as a team. If you would like to learn more about your surroundings, participate in service projects, increase student awareness of environmental issues in our area and expand our relationship with MATES and Project Terrapin then this club is for you!

FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUB
The Foreign Language Club "Spanish Club" is a club that meets monthly (in person and virtually) to foster and nurture interest in the Hispanic culture and to provide an opportunity to learn more about the Hispanic world through fun activities, cultural exploration and discussion.

GAMERS CLUB
Gamer’s Club is a club where kids can come to socialize and play different types of games with other students (board games, card games, video games). It is a place where you can teach others about a game you like to play, or learn to play games you never knew about. Students bring their own devices to gamers club.

GIRLS WHO CODE
Girls Who Code is a club for ladies, by ladies. This club teaches girls about the world of computer science from the very basic to advanced learning. Together, the club designs and completes a project to benefit the school or community. For one hour a week, the club meets to discuss famous women in computer science and how to complete basic coding.

Homegrown Club
This group was started last year to introduce and reconnect students with activities including gardening, sewing, building, cooking, and other life skills. Ms. Kaitlyn Coleman ran this group weekly and had nearly 30 regular members by the end of the school year. The group worked to rebuild a garden area in the Brackman courtyard and would like to expand their impact in the school and community next year!Advisor: Kaitlyn Coleman

The Interact Club is a club that will meet weekly in person and virtually to work together to help the community through a variety of service activities.

IT’S UP TO US
"It's Up to Us" focuses on providing awareness about local issues to our peers. We hold events to raise money for charities that help support the causes that mean the most to us and support our local community.

JAZZ BAND
Provides students with the opportunity to perform in an ensemble built upon a tradition of musical excellence. During the school year, students will learn fundamental jazz techniques while working with their fellow peers. Students who are involved in Jazz Band will perform in Public Concerts, Competitions, Community Events, and for a variety of school functions throughout the year. Any 7th Grade and 8th Grade student is eligible to participate. 6th Grade students may participate in Jazz Band based on recommendations by the Middle School Jazz Band Director. Audition dates and times will be announced in the Fall.

An advocacy group for students from all different backgrounds to give them a platform for a voice. We focus on promoting kindness, individuality, acceptance. Here at Brackman, we believe "everybody is somebody."

LITERARY MAGAZINE
The Literary Magazine Club is dedicated to editing, designing, and publishing a collection of student art and writing. All students will be invited to submit their original work, but the club will be comprised of students who are dedicated to editing and designing process.

MUSIC CLUB
The Music Club will be under the direction of Mr. McGrath and Mr. Wald. There, students will have the opportunity to receive extra help before school for their Band & Chorus Classes. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in various music technology projects throughout the school year. No audition is required. Students may join at any point in the school year, by signing up with Mr. Gagnon or Mr. Wald

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY (NJHS)
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Students may be invited to apply in the Spring of their 7th grade year if they have a minimum average of 93% or higher in all of their classes.
*Again, please note that the minimum average to be invited to apply is a 93. However, the required minimum average is subject to change yearly based upon the academic competitiveness of the applicant pool.
Students that were invited to apply in the Spring of 2022 had an overall average of 95% or higher. Please use this average as a frame of reference if you are interested in being invited to apply.
Each chapter is required to publish its qualifications for membership, which is based on the five pillars of NJHS:
Scholarship
Per national guidelines, at a minimum, students must have a cumulative GPA of 85, B, 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent standard of excellence. (Each school chapter is allowed to require a higher cumulative GPA.)
Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.
Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.
Citizenship
The student who demonstrates citizenship understands the importance of civic engagement; has a high regard for freedom and justice; respects democracy; respects the law for all citizens at the local, state, and federal levels; and demonstrates mature participation and responsibility in activities such as scouting, community organizations, or school clubs.Advisors: Courtney Polhemus & Brooke Grasso

Thespian Club
The Thespian Club is an honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students. The mission of this society is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts.

VOCAL ENSEMBLE
Vocal Ensemble is a small singing group of no more than 30 members. We meet before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the whole year and perform in the winter and spring concerts. We also perform for a competition in the spring. Auditions for Vocal Ensemble are held in September; if you love to sing, come try out.

Voices of Diversity
The mission of this student-led group is to educate others about the many cultures, races, and backgrounds of people here in Barnegat and around the world and the impact that racism has on their lives. This group is a way to talk, listen, and learn about life from different perspectives and provide a platform for minority voices to be heard.

YEARBOOK
We will require students, primarily 8th graders, to submit a paragraph detailing their skills that will contribute to yearbook publication. This group will meet starting in late October. A specific confidentiality contract will be applied to maintain the anticipation and reduce unnecessary complaints. The students will assist with picture taking, thematic input and distribution. They will also participate in the editing of rosters and quotes utilized in the yearbook.
