Children's Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (CMRSS) is a state program that is available in every county.

In Ocean County, CMRSS is administered by Preferred Children's Services. CMRSS is an outreach service for families with children who are experiencing urgent behavioral health issues that threaten their stability in the community. CMRSS responds to the family within 1 hour of the call for help to provide immediate de-escalation and assessment. CMRSS can remain involved for up to eight weeks to provide direct support services and linkage to other needed resources.

Family Crisis Intervention Unit - (732) 240-3638

The Family Crisis Intervention Unit is a county-funded program within Harbor House, offering free counseling and case management services to Ocean County residents. Our counselors are trained and qualified to intervene in family crises, working with juveniles ages 10 to 18 years old and their families. At the Family Crisis Intervention Unit we aim to divert cases involving juvenile family crises from the courts by providing our families with the counseling, case management, and referral assistance needed to stabilize the immediate family crisis. Our counselors work to maintain a network of services and county agencies including police, schools, physicians, substance abuse services, and other juvenile agencies to coordinate services for our families.
