BA - International Politics & History

Mrs. Erin Koovits

Earning my degree in International Politics and History at Penn State University brought me into the political world, where I worked for several years prior to embarking on my career in education.  Specializing in fundraising and event planning, I had the opportunity to work for state and national political parties, a presidential campaign, political action committees and lobbying groups. I am recently earned my master's degree in Political Science with a concentraiton in American government and politics.

I came to Barnegat High School in 2005 and have never regretted my choice to leave politics.  I am often asked if I miss it, and the answer is no.  Teaching about history and politics and helping students gain a greater understanding of our nation is more rewarding than anything I did before.  I have taught US History I at all levels, World History, US History 3, Civics, Political and Legal Education, Economics and Advanced Placement US Government and Politics.  I have also had the opportunity to work with students in non-academic settings including as advisor for Student Government, the PLE Club and National Honor Society and the History Club.

I am married and have 3 children, ages 15, 14 and 10.  I love teaching and am honored to be able to help guide students in their efforts to achieve their future goals. My objective is to have students leave my classroom prepared to take on the world and follow their dreams.
